On Sunday, September 28, 2008, Walt Disney World® Resort closed all of its Downtown Disney® Pleasure Island nightclubs to create a new "family-friendly environment" over the next few years with new restaurants and specialty shops at "an entirely re-imagined" Pleasure Island. Several Pleasure Island establishments such as Raglan Road Irish Pub & Restaurant, Fuego by Sosa Cigars, Curl by Sammy Duval and Orlando Harley-Davidson will remain open at Downtown Disney® Pleasure Island. None of the new shops or restaurants has been announced yet.

Pleasure Island annual passholders can request a pro-rated refund by stopping by any Guest Relations location or Vacation Planning booth at Walt Disney World® Resort.
